Penobscot Expedition Chapter DAR
Community
The Penobscot Expedition Chapter DAR actively participates in community events.  Each year our chapter works in conjuction with alumni from the old Crosby High School in Belfast, Maine.  They ensure that an exciting reunion occurs each year.  The Crosby High School Reunion is made up of classes from 1924 to 1965.  We also hold auctions and yard sales to raise money for DAR Scholarships.  Below are some photos of community events our Chapter or members of our Chapter have or do participate in.  Some pictures are of historic sites we have visited.
Web hyperlinks to non-DAR sites are not the responsibility of the NSDAR, the state organizations, or individual DAR chapters.
The Courtney Dancers performed this year at high school alumni that we participate in.  The dancers performed ball-room style dancing, rumba, cha cha,  fox-trot and waltz.
In this picture one of our past Regents participates by joining in to dance to a waltz.
Every alumni get-together always begins with the colors being presented by local Legion or Guard members.
At the reunion it just wouldn't be a reunion without some local country ho down music with a fiddle, accordion and keyboard.
This reunion honors our oldest and best
Curling is a big sport around our town and some of our DAR members curl.  The court always opens up with the piper bringing the curlers onto the ice.
Old Fort Western is an historic site near us.  Our members have visited many times.
Giving out scholarships is one thing we do, and this year we are selling voices on the American Girl Doll "Josefina 1824" to raise money to do just that.
The best way for us to end a hard years work is to meet at our City park to have a picnic, relax and enjoy our time together.
