As do all DAR members, Penobscot Expedition Daughters take pride in supporting education and patriotism. High schools throughout the nation select a Good Citizen from the senior class to be honored by the local DAR. Penobscot Expedition Chapter sponsors two area high schools.
The teachers of these schools nominate three students who represent the qualities of service, leadership, dependability, and patriotism. Their classmates vote for the one they feel best deserves the honor.
Penobscot Expedition Chapter gives each of the two students a Good Citizen pin and certificates, a U.S. savings bond, and a book. We honor these examples of high principles at our March meeting.
Meeting these Good Citizens always gives me confidence in young people everywhere.
